Why We Love Strangers

Three gals out for lunch. Lots to talk about, each of us had our stuff.
What we want, what we fear and what we are
healing from. Then the
waiter joins the mix. Young guy, not nearly the
experience we have
never mind combined. But because he is a stranger
who we may
never again see, we ring him in. Chat openly. Why are you here we ask

him, where is he from and where to next. He stays at our table longer
than he should because we are strangers to him. He knows too that
we haven't long together.
I thought about it on the drive back to Calgary. Sure chance meetings
are 'duty free' but better is the fact that we are all
wanders and for a
precious few moments we find one another.
And then lost from sight.
Travel is alluring for that reason. A hunt to find as many of us as possible.
All pieces dancing in and out of each others knowing.
Thanks to all of you who
show up for these impromptu encounters with
a smile, a story to share and just the faintest sense that somewhere
beyond all odds, we will meet again.

Kai sera sera.
